[SAINT JOHN, NB] — A regulator has denied a request to start a van shuttle service between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
P.E.I.-based Advanced Shuttle Services had asked the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board if it could set up a shuttle service using 15-seat passenger vans.
The board recently denied the application in a decision that says the proposed service isn't covered under the province's Motor Carrier Act.
The decision says the proposed service didn't include a regular route.
The company had proposed to run two shuttles which would leave the Island and make stops in the New Brunswick communities of Port Elgin, Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton.
The application was denounced by Isabelle Hains and Ana Acevedo, whose teenage sons were killed in a 15-passenger van crash near Bathurst four years ago.
