Stellar Industrial Sales was founded on a very simple philosophy: Give the customer an extremely positive experience whether they purchase from you or not and they will remember. This philosophy worked, and continues to drive the growth of the business today.
“We touch just about every industry in Atlantic Canada,” says Angus MacDonald, sales manager for Stellar. “We sell everything from conveyer belts and hydraulic hose fittings to hand and power tools.”
In his role as sales manager, MacDonald says his job is to generate new business by coordinating sales efforts but, to do that, you have to know and believe in your product.
Stellar supplies quality products to a variety of sectors ranging from heavy construction to military and even the medical field.
“We are the most innovative industrial supply house in Atlantic Canada,” he says. “The secret to success is to diversify, introducing new lines and changing things.” He adds that there are plans on the horizon to expand the business in Atlantic Canada.
Aside from Stellar’s diverse product line, a main key to the company’s success lies in its commitment to customer service.
“What sets us apart from our competitors is our solution-based, cost-effective, prompt customer service,” says MacDonald. “It’s what keeps our customers coming back.”
At Stellar, its employees are well versed in the products the company carries and are tested on their knowledge of the products and their usage. This knowledge is necessary in order to live up to the credo “Service and Solutions Excellence Driven By our People.”
With round-the-clock service, customers of Stellar know somebody will always be there to help.
“When you call the 468-1202 number you will get one of our employees,” says MacDonald. “If you call at 2 a.m., you will also get a live person. We are always there to help.”
Stellar has a group of about six employees who are designated to carry cell phones to answer customer calls 24/7. They pool their knowledge to best meet the needs of their customers.
“One time, we had a customer call us at midnight looking for a conveyer belt,” he says. “Our employee had the belt to him by 5 a.m.”
In today’s fast-paced business world, great customer service and product selection stand out and resonate with the consumer. That is why Stellar has been in business for 25 years and looks forward to many more.
