[DARTMOUTH, NS] - RKO Steel Limited of Dartmouth has expanded its product line to include portable fuel tanks for the oil and gas industry.
The new venture for the company, which manufactures, fabricates and erects structural steel and other metals, is expected to create positions for highly-skilled workers and enable the firm to develop new markets in Western Canada and the United States.
Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) was in Dartmouth today to announce Government of Canada investments totalling $538,900 to support RKO in advancing its new line of business.
A $488,900 repayable investment through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP) enables RKO to acquire state-of-the-art equipment to construct the portable fuel tanks, including a plate-rolling machine, two overhead cranes and an air handling system.
An additional $50,000 contribution through ACOA’s Productivity and Business Skills Program (PBS) will assist the firm in training and certifying employees to produce the tanks.
