[HALIFAX, NS] — The Nova Scotia government says an information technology firm will get a payroll rebate of more than $3.4 million to create as many as 250 new jobs over the next five years in Halifax.

NTT DATA Canada Inc., formerly Keane Canada Inc., will get the rebate through the government's business arm, Nova Scotia Business Inc.

The company will also use the rebate to pay for training and recruitment programs.

The government says a previous payroll rebate wasn't used by the company because of the economic downturn.

That rebate announced in 2008 was worth just over $6 million and has been cancelled.

NTT DATA provides consulting services to mid- and large-sized companies.
