[HALIFAX, NS] — The Halifax Gateway was recognized nationally this week for its marketing and brand development efforts over the past year.

The 1st place national award was accepted by the Greater Halifax Partnership on behalf of the Halifax Gateway at the Economic Developments Association of Canada’s annual conference in Peterborough, Ontario. There were 106 community submissions received for the Marketing Canada Awards for 2011, and the Halifax Gateway received the top award under the category "Printed Collateral" for Halifax Gateway – Make The Connection, a series of print materials which highlight the advantages of moving people and goods through the Halifax Gateway.

One of the key issues identified by the Halifax Gateway Council is the need to market the Halifax Gateway brand consistently and internationally. This material is being utilized by gateway partners at home and in key markets to clearly articulate the value proposition to shippers and travelers.

Nancy Phillips, executive director of the Halifax Gateway Council, said she was thrilled that the material is being recognized.

“This was a collaborative effort by our partners and it shows that by working together we can achieve great results. We know our gateway is award winning, but it feels great to receive the recognition from peers."
