[HALIFAX, NS] – Nova Scotia Community College has selected its fourth president after a year long search.
The position has been offered to Don Bureaux who will begin immediately.
“After an extensive national search, the best candidate to lead NSCC into its next exciting chapter is Don Bureaux,” says Michael Kontak, chair, NSCC board of governors. “Mr. Bureaux has served as acting president for the past year. His history with the College combined with his accomplishments as an adult educator and administrator give him a rich combination of experience and perspective that will take NSCC to a new level of innovation in applied education and research.”
NSCC began looking for a new president last May when Joan McArthur-Blair retired.
The search committee, which was made up of NSCC employees, students and board members teamed with executive search firm Janet Wright & Associates interviewed candidates from across Canada and eventually decided upon Bureaux.
Bereaux is very familiar with the institution and its priorities to strengthening Nova Scotia’s economy and has a history with various universities and business schools. He is a certified general accountant and has a masters in business administration from Heriot-Watt University.
“It is a tremendous honour to be asked to lead an organization of people who are so passionate about accessible, relevant, post-secondary education,” says Bureaux. “In my heart, I believe that college education empowers individuals to build their own career success into stronger, sustainable communities for Nova Scotia.”
