[HALIFAX, NS] — A new packing company is "moving" into Nova Scotia this spring. Vancouver-based FrogBox, which was featured on CBC’s DragonsDen earlier this year, has sold franchise rights all over Canada, including Nova Scotia.
Local investor Rob Lough, who owns Scotia Realty, was awarded the franchise rights to Nova Scotia after a very competitive process.
“By the end of April we hope to be open and ready for business,” said Lough.
Lough bought into the idea of FrogBox because he is in his seventh home himself and is all too familiar with the hassles of packing and trying to find usable cardboard boxes from the local grocery store. He originally saw the idea on Dragon’s Den when company founder and owner Doug Burgoyne presented the idea to the "Dragons" and hooked a couple of major investments to help expand and franchise. Lough said he was impressed with Burgoyne’s professionalism and how effective this startup has been.
For his franchise in Halifax, Lough says he will be offering free delivery anywhere within the Halifax Regional Municipality. The company eventually hopes to be able to reach out to the entire province. The follow-up episode for FrogBox airs tonight on CBC.
Lough and his partner Jon Gour will be at the Ideal Home Show on April 1 at Exhibition Park in Halifax to challenge people to try and pack goods into cardboard boxes quicker than they can pack up FrogBoxes. Anyone who beats them will receive a prize courtesy of the new franchise owners.
