Stellar Industrial Sales has come a long way since 1986 when it was formed by Chris Giannou and two partners.

Initially, the company sold industrial and hydraulic hose to the marine and forestry industries.

In 1990, sheet rubber and conveyor belt lines were added to Stellar’s product mix. This brought diversification to the company’s offering, allowing it to broaden its customer base. Being able to offer everything from heavyweight belts for aggregate operators to lightweight belts for food processing and package handling has made Stellar the source for industrial rubber products. Currently Stellar supplies conveyor belts up to three meters wide from its main fabrication facility located in the Burnside Industrial Park.

The 1990s also saw Stellar expand its horizons with branch openings in Moncton and Saint John, New Brunswick as well as Mount Pearl, Newfoundland.

In 1991, the company added the Ammeraal Beltech line of European Monofilament conveyor belting to its product selection. Stellar has been consistently ranked in the top five Canadian distributors for the Ammeraal line and continues to grow the belting part of its business.

Through the years, the company has invested in state-of-the-art equipment to offer quality, value-added products to its customers. Stellar’s latest acquisition is a six-inch hose crimper at its Dartmouth central warehouse location. Dubbed “Big Red” by the employees, this machine provides another alternative for Stellar’s industrial hose customers. “Big Red” is one of the largest hose crimpers in Atlantic Canada.

In early 2007, Stellar once again expanded its product offering by purchasing Gartec Industrial Sales. Gartec specialized in pneumatic components, tools, personal protection equipment, environmental and safety equipment and industrial supplies. Whether it is respiratory protection, concrete placement hose or anti-fatigue matting, Stellar is recognized as the supplier to call.

The company has developed a reputation for being able to source those hard-to-find, specialty items that some customers require. Relying on its vendor partners, Stellar will leave no stone unturned in its goal to satisfy its customers’ needs.

Recognizing these needs, Stellar, in conjunction with its sister company Hercules SLR, brought CertTracker® to its market area. CertTracker® is a 100 per cent web-based certificate tracking system that provides customers with the ability to easily access and track their current and past inspections certificates and allows notification to customers when recertification is required.

Today, Stellar is proud to be the master distributor in North America for the Plystar brand of conveyor belt, the Flexstar brand of industrial hose and the Roughtek brand of industrial supplies. These brands along with the vast product mix offered by Stellar Industrial provides customers with unparalleled one-stop shopping.
